![]() I don’t know how it works in California but here’s the peoples Republic of New York everybody with an older car pretty much knows the local chef who will get you through the smog test. I know all those cars have slightly different versions of the same process where they have to cycle so many different speeds and starts and stops before the computer is fully reset but I would think by now yours is you ready to go. Suggest you also read the PDF in this thread for more details about how to capture and share the data - This info is Android specific, iProducts is similar, menu options may be different. If the only thing that caused this malfunction on your computer was disconnecting the battery I can’t see why the thing with the pass a short while later. ![]() VeePeak now offers a LE Bluetooth interface that is compatible with OBDFusion. OBDFusion, for the iProducts it is $9.99.įor iProducts you NEED a LE Bluetooth adapter which are more expensive. The OBDFusion App and proper VeePeak interface from Amazon are less than $40 for both for iProducts, less than $20 for both for Android. If you have a smart phone or tablet, get an OBDII App and interface so you can read the codes along with Live/Realtime or Freeze Frame data then you will know exactly what is going on with the engine fuel management system. See this thread where the poster had 2 different BMW specific software packages and he was not able to see what was going on: Not very expensive at all and will run circles around your current scan tool. If you want real help with seeing what may be going on, you will need the OBDFusion App and appropriate interface. Are you 100% sure your tool is accurate and have you attempted to update the software if it is updateable? You WILL NOT be able to get your car to pass if the Fuel System Readiness Monitor is not in the Ready/Clear/Pass state. In California the ONLY Readiness Monitor that can not be in the Ready/Clear/Pass state and be eligible for and pass a SMOG test is the Evap Readiness Monitor. I wounder if the shop got the Post-cat O2 sensor connected to the proper Bank as well or if the Post-cat O2 sensor connections may have been swapped previously? Most dealership staff have no idea what an E46 is anymore, they were all in Elementary School when the E46 was stopped being built. I am not sure I would believe the Dealership 100% on this if they DID NOT CHARGE you to tell you the DME is up to date. The P2237/P2240 codes are generally a nuisance code that does often require the DME to be updated. You car is a later model MS45 DME with the 5 wire MAF and the 5/6 wire Pre-cat O2 sensors. So you did not really answer the question, WHY were the O2 sensors replaced? was this due to the P2237/P2240 codes?īMW OEM sensors are really no different than the Bosch Direct Fit sensors if this was what was installed in the car. Why people keep buying some of these cheaper stand alone scan tools is beyond my comprehension. ![]() If only the fuel system monitor was complete, I can take it to a smog shop now and hopefully it will pass since there's no "stored code" Should I reset my code again and start from scratch? All my other monitors are complete including the EVAP. I thought this could be a DME issue, but when I took my car to the BMW dealership, they said it was up to date. So far, my SES light never popped up, but as I was checking my readiness monitor, i noticed the pending p2240 that went away, and now I currently have the P2237 pending. but he told me to reset the code, use my scanner to keep monitoring when it's ready, and perhaps I can pass smog before any code lights up. ![]() I didn't want to spend more money on sensors since they just installed new ones. When I brought my vehicle back to the shop due to the P2237/P2240 code, the mechanic said it might be due to installing Bosch sensors and he recommended me getting them replaced with BMW OEM sensors. ANCEL AD310ī) Pending code I had was P2240 (but it went away), but then P2237 is now in pending (hopefully will go away).Ĭ) I replaced all 4 sensors from a reputable BMW repair shop.
